Toby Keith has performed for soldiers all over the world. He also brings military members up on stage to sing with him during his concerts. But in Detroit this past Sunday night, Toby did something he’s never done before: He administered the re-enlistment oath for Operations Specialist 2nd Class Jessie Siordia. (Jessie’s commanding officer was in attendance, to make sure everything was legal.)
“I like to do everything I can for our military,” said Toby, “but I have to say, I’ve never done anything like this before.”
Jessie had written to Detroit morning show host Dr. Don, asking if there was any way he could get Toby to administer the oath. Jessie had attended one of Toby’s USO concerts in Afghanistan. Jessie got his wish and a bonus…Detroit’s own Kid Rock was also there to shake Jessie’s hand.
Toby administered the re-enlistment oath to Siordia prior to his concert Sunday night at Detroit’s DTE Energy Music Theater (see the concert photos).

Toby Keith’s Hammer Down Tour continues across the U.S. throughout this summer and fall.
Toby is also performing with Garth Brooks, Ronnie Dunn, Willie Nelson, and Trisha Yearwood at the Oklahoma Twister Relief Concert on July 6 in Norman, Oklahoma.
